On Monday 5/3 another series of our Mixed two Bowl Triples Social competition was completed. Overall winners were the Cherries led by Gwen Scott. She was ably helped by Jean Kydd, Glenis Harlow, and for the last day, Jim Bailey. They defeated Alison Matthews' Grapes. Alison was given great aid by Margaret Keeffe and Thelma Young. All agreed it was again a very worthwhile innovation.

Despite the ominous weather on Friday and Saturday, our President's Invitation Day went ahead on our beautiful greens. The only downpour of rain occured during lunchtime and the whole programme was completed without worry. All visitors were very impressed at the way our greens came up. An excellent salad lunch was provided  and Betty's cream cakes were the feature of afternoon tea. A great cent auction variety went over well and the day was a resounding success. Winners of the day were our Warragul team of Alison Matthews, June Gnaden, Jay Alendale (San Remo), and skip Bev Woolley. They are pictured below with the sponsors rep.

Ladies Section 2011/12 Fours Championship was won by Edna Adams and her team of Grace Hewlitt, Jean Kydd, and Elsie Hefford pictured below. In the final they defeated Kay Bailey's team of Irene Hamill, Freda Lay and Gwenda Mason.

On Sunday 20/11/2011 the Final of the Ladies Singles Championship was played between Roma Rippon and Edna Adams. Conditions were very trying with a very strong, cold, wind blowing. Edna led virtually from the start and did not let Roma get into the game at any stage. Edna won the Title with a 25/14 win. It is  a welcome return to our Honour Boards for Edna since her consecutive wins 25 years ago. The competitors are pictured below with Ladies Section President, Pat Hammond after their game which was played in an excellent spirit.

Semi finals of thre Club  Ladies Singles Championship were played on Sunday 13/11 and produced two great games, both of which saw the winner coming from behind over the last few ends. Winners were Roma Rippon over Janette Gallasch, and Edna Adams over reigning Champion, Pat Hammond. These two should produce a stirring final. Watch for it!

The Final of the Ladies Pairs was played on Wednesday 26/10 and saw a great and thrilling game played in good but windy conditions. After 14 ends Gwen Scott and Bess Feeley led Bev Woolley and Marg Evison 15/9 but Bev and Marge played excellent bowls to win the last four ends and tie the game at 15/15. On the extra end Marge played a great bowl only to see Gwen take it out. Try as they could, neither Marg or Bev were able to get shot and Gwen put her last bowl away to win by a solitary shot. Well done to all and extra congratulations to Gwen and Bess. See photo on photo page under VLBA
